9 Youngest-serving Kings In Africa 


In this article, we will be spotlighting some of the youngest-serving kings across the African continent. 

  1. King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of the Kingdom of Toro in Uganda – became king at the age of 3 in 1995.
  1. King Mswati III of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) – became king at the age of 18 in 1986.
  1. King Letsie III of Lesotho – became king at the age of 33 in 1996.
  1. King Mohammed VI of Morocco – became king at the age of 35 in 1999.

  1. King Kigeli V of Rwanda – became king at the age of 22 in 1959 (deposed in 1961).

  1. King Salman of Saudi Arabia – became king at the age of 79 in 2015.

It is important to note that some African traditional rulers are not officially recognized by their governments as recognized monarchs, while others may have inherited their titles but do not necessarily wield political power.
