Provost Advises New Students To Prioritize Security Awareness

During the matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session at Niger State College of Education, the Provost, Professor Mohammed Yakubu-Auna, emphasized the importance of maintaining a vigilant attitude towards security for all matriculating students.

Addressing the gathering, Professor Yakubu-Auna congratulated the 3,125 newly admitted students and urged them to prioritize their studies, avoiding any activities that could hinder their academic progress.

He emphasized the need for them to remain focused on their goals throughout their time at the college.

Furthermore, the Provost encouraged the students to be mindful of their personal safety and security at all times. By highlighting the importance of being security conscious, he aimed to ensure that the students understood the significance of maintaining a safe and secure environment within the college premises.

He said, “Security issues is the duty of all and sundry and should not be left in the hands of the school security, vigilante and other security agencies alone.

“Together we shall fight insecurity by informing the school of suspicious behaviour of unscrupulous elements lurking in the school or around the school.

“Every student should see themselves as stakeholders in the fight against insecurity and conscientiously fight it.”

The Registrar of the institution, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu-Aliyu, who administered oaths of allegiance on the students, urged them to be of good conduct ad represent the school for good.

“This is an annual ritual and it is binding on you to adhere strictly to rules and regulations on the oath of allegiance of the collge,” he said.
