70-Year-Old Man, Ben Duamlong, and 111 Others Bags First Class Degree From University of Jos


A 70-year-old former coach of Nigeria Under-20 and assistant coach of the Super Eagles at Korea /Japan 2002 World Cup Ben Duamlong has bagged a first-class degree from the University of Jos (UniJos), Plateau state.

The septuagenarian man graduated from the department of painting along with 111 others with the same feet and another 20,532 graduates across the school this year.


After retiring as a football coach, Duamlong claims he participated in the degree program out of a desire for learning.

Duamlong added that his love of the arts is what motivated him to return to university at this age. He has always drawn but has never painted all his life. And he likes to paint and he can perfectly draw but can not paint.


“What prompted me to go back to the university at this age is because of my passion for art. All my life, I have always drawn but never painted. I like painting. I can draw but I can’t paint.

“So, after retiring in 2014, as a footballer, I stayed home doing nothing. That is why I decided to go back to school”.
