JJWBGSP: The World Bank Scholarship Program Helping Mid-career Professionals in 160 Developing Countries 

About 6,000 middle-career professionals from more than 160 developing nations, including Japan, have received financial aid from the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJWBGSP) to finish graduate degrees in fields of study important to development. 

The program, which has been running annually since 1987, is the only one financed by the Japanese government through JJWBGSP.

The program is open to applicants for master’s degree programs in development-related topics who have appropriate professional experience and a history of helping their nations’ development efforts, according to information collected from the scholarship website.   

JJWBGSP offers scholarships for 45 master’s programs at partnering universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan. These programs are in critical areas of development such as infrastructure management, tax policy, and economic policy management.

It added that the program is mainly for those admitted into 45 participating master’s programs, and someone might not be eligible to apply for the scholarship in 2023 if he/she is not part of the 45 participating programs.

To meet up with the scholarship academic calendar and participating programs, the next application process will be organized in two rounds.

Application Window 1

Beginning from noon Washington time on January 16 and ending on February 28, 2023. The application window for JJWBGSP Participating Programs is no longer open. And by the end of March 2023, the applicants’ names will be released.

Application Window 2

While March 27 through May 26 at noon Washington time JJWBGSP Participating Programs are now taking applications through Window #2. ** JJWBGSP Participating Programs will only contact applicants who have been shortlisted to provide the link to the online JJWBGSP Application Form.
